1000 MARKETS going, going, gone!

In a few days, I’ll be transitioning my shop at Amazon’s 1000 Markets to another online site. Something called “Bonanza” is taking the Market over, and 1000 Markets will be gone.

I’m not wild about this, as Bonanza looks like a Johnny-come-lately version of Etsy squashed together with Ebay.

For my customers and collectors, the transition should be seamless.

Unfortunately, things like the blog posts I wrote there will not transfer.

I hate losing anything I’ve written……

So I’m going to repost those articles here on my “regular” blog. If you’ve already read them, I apologize for repeating myself.

If you haven’t read them, enjoy!

I find it just as important to write about my art as to make it. I am fascinated by stories. You can tell when people are speaking their truth--their eyes light up, their voices become strong, their entire body posture becomes powerful and upright. I love it when people get to this place in their work, their relationships, their art. As I work from this powerful place in MY heart, I share this process with others--so they have a strong place to stand, too. Because the world needs our beautiful art. All of it we can make, as fast as we can! Whether it's a bowl, a painting, a song, a garden, a story, if it makes our world a better place, we need to do everything in our power to get it out there.

  1. I’m sorry about the transitional pooh, Luann.

Yesterday some artists on FB were talking about Artfire.com . I don’t have an informed opinion so I’m just passing along the lead. Good luck.

  2. I was kind of surprised how fast they are closing up shop too! And Bonanza isn’t taking Amazon payments which was one of my favorite things about 1000 Markets. Not sure yet if I’ll go along with the transition.

  3. Hey Luann,

I heard about this from some other artist friends on FB yesterday too. It sounded kind of sudden and others have express some skepticism about “Bonanza” as a replacement. Makes me wonder about the changes taking place with online sales venues.

I’ve been reading an article in ArtCalendar magazine about more artists going the route of DIY shopping via their websites and blogs. I know WordPress has just added a plugin for selling through your blog, so I plan on exploring more of these options for selling my work. Course, that adds the twist of driving buyers to the website and blog….there’s always something to deal with….

I know you will keep us informed and I look forward to reading some of the posts I didn’t catch at your 1000 Market blog. Thanks!

  4. Kathleen, I’d forgotten all about the new WordPress plug-in. And after researching the other options, I think it’s the best one for me.

I mostly need a place for MY customers to purchase from me–not a place to market to the world. I want a highly-juried site, or my own. And the WordPress option really fits the bill.

Thank you SO MUCH for this suggestion–I’m on it!
