DON’T MISS IT!!

Focusing on what’s going wrong could make us miss the thing that’s going to be oh-so-right.

It’s been a very difficult last few weeks. In fact, yesterday was hellish. I won’t even dwell on what happened, that’s not important.

What IS important is the lesson I’ve learned.

When weird things happen, my brain (and your brain, perhaps?) leaps forward to figure out WHY.

Why did she say that? Why did they do that?? What else should I have done? What did I bring to that situation? Was it my fault? Their fault?? Your fault???

In the end, some things cannot be “figured out”. People will overlook your good intentions, life will not be fair, hard times will come no matter how much we try to protect ourselves.

But if we let our brain continue to spin and fret and fuss, the real tragedy will overtake us…

We will be focusing on the bad stuff, trying like heck to figure it all out.

And we will not be facing the right direction for the next blessing that awaits us. The next “namaste”, the next recognition of the miraculous in other people or in our lives.

I don’t want to miss that.

So I’ve had my little hissy fit. I’ve cried and felt sorry for myself. Good friends listened and sympathized. And after a little while, they delivered a very gentle but very firm kick in the pants.

And now I’m ready to see the blessing already in my life, and be grateful for them.

I’m ready to turn in a new direction. And see, with an open heart, where the next blessing is coming from.

Thank you Ruth, Ted, Kerin and as always, Jon. Thank you for loving me when I’m feeling very unlovable. And thank you for assuring me that it’s entirely possible for 312 other people to be very weird, and of course it has nothing to do with moi.

I find it just as important to write about my art as to make it. I am fascinated by stories. You can tell when people are speaking their truth--their eyes light up, their voices become strong, their entire body posture becomes powerful and upright. I love it when people get to this place in their work, their relationships, their art. As I work from this powerful place in MY heart, I share this process with others--so they have a strong place to stand, too. Because the world needs our beautiful art. All of it we can make, as fast as we can! Whether it's a bowl, a painting, a song, a garden, a story, if it makes our world a better place, we need to do everything in our power to get it out there.

  1. Ah..I too have had a lot of days like these lately.
If it not for the audio versions of Eckhart Tolle’s books “The Power of Now,” “Living A Life of Inner Peace,” and “The Flowering of Human Consciousness,” I might’ve gone mad about a month ago.
In the Now, I’ve found peace while all around me is volcanos and people judging me and missing my good intentions.

I totally know where you are right now, and I know that your Now will be better..in just a few hours or whenever it is time for it to be ok.

    Know what I mean, Vern?

  2. Hi, Luann.

I was thinking of you this morning, and this popped up in my mailbox. So glad I subscribed to your posts, or I would have “missed” YOU – and that would surely be a loss. I am glad you have reached a place in your heart where you are able to let go of some of those things that were nibbling away at your joy.

    Peace, my friend!

Miss Piggy would be proud of you.

Welcome back! I’ve missed your posts and was worried. I don’t need to subscribe ’cause I check every day.

  4. Timing is everything. The timing of your post, its message. It certainly hits some points in my life now and from the others comments…points in their lives too.

Your revelations help us all. Cheers!

  5. Oh! I’m sorry for your suffering and so glad to hear that you got through ! Of Course it wasn’t you; it was definitely the mobs, foo on them! I wore your horse earrings to an art festival today, and there was not a piece of jewelry there that was half as nice. I think a lot of the artists and artisans I saw would benefit from reading your Craft Report column and your blog. Keep up the good work & see you around.

  6. Oh, yes, Joy, my angel was working overtime! What a delightful way to look at things….!!!

    Deb, as always, thank you!!

Mary, I didn’t mean to scare anybody. I almost did a post on how wonderful the new silicone basting brushes are, but that seemed so ordinary after all the soul-busting posts I’ve made lately…. ;^)

  8. OO Luann, if you only knew how SHOCKED I am to have read ur post just right today. I think you are gifted, or an angel yourself, or psychic or SOMETHING like all of that above. I have had the worst 3 months of my life. And it doesn’t seem to have a whole lot of light at the end of tunnel but everyday I say a long list of thank yous and what I am grateful for because I do have a ton to be grateful for. And one of them is you! I am sad that you have had some struggles but I am happy that you would share with us so we can send some support your way. Thank you so much for your EXCELLENT gift of writing, wisdom and caring . I wish many blessings upon you.
    Sincerely, Lynn McGinnis
