Welcome to my new blog site!
But my old blog site is still good, too.
For years, I’ve blogged at Radio Userland. It was easy, and I knew how to do it.
I hate making big changes. But I realized my old blog was difficult to search for information.
Nothing’s changed except the location, except I hope it’s easier to find the information you’re looking for here. And maybe I’ll finally learn how to post images, too.
So feel free to check back at my old blog, starting with Holding Onto “Facts” That Hold You Back for years of posts on business skills for artists, and stories about my life as an artist.
And get ready for moi entering the 21st century–at last!

Because the world needs our beautiful art. All of it we can make, as fast as we can! Whether it's a bowl, a painting, a song, a garden, a story, if it makes our world a better place, we need to do everything in our power to get it out there.

For now, I’m leaving my old blog up. I’ve checked into moving it over, and apparently that is not easy to do. So until there’s an easy way to do that, there will just be two places.
I will check with my web guy (my husband!) to make sure you can still get to both blogs through my website–thanks for the reminder!

I can’t wait to see how the new blog shapes up! I did like the design of the old one.
I noticed that you haven’t yet published the RSS feed for this blog. Please ask your web guy to turn that on! It makes reading your blog a whole lot easier and quicker (at least for me).

Wow, what a surprise!
Moving a blog is never, ever an easy task. If you are paying for hosting and can use the wordpress that comes with your hosting package, that is the best way to go. I’ve had both.
Using the free version of wordpress is very limiting. I am in the process of moving my blog from the free wordpress to blogspot. Once I start paying for hosting again, I will go back to wordpress (not the free version). I have been coming close to running out of space (50mb with free version). If you need more, you can purchase more, but I thought if I am having to spend money for more space, I might as well put money into hosting a new site and host my own wordpress. That way I would have unlimited space and be able to use wordpress to its fullest. š
I’ve been visiting you here for a long time now. The blog I am moving is http://artfulvisions.wordpress.com . My new one is at twistedthicket.com (twistedthicket.blogspot.com ). New name and everything! š
Oh, and yes you can have both blogs still linked thru your website. Just make a new button or text link for your new one. š

I just discovered your blog today while searching for comments on display walls…. I have just spent half an hour reading your input on festivals and it’s just so helpful! Thank you! I am doing my first 4 shows this year and am trying to put together a great booth the first time around. Anyway, I will be reading your blog regularly, as I love your artwork, love it that you are my age, love it that you have teenagers at home, too, and love that you have just moved over to wordpress, as I was advised to do last week and am in the process of figuring out!

I don’t know the logistics of your old blog, but I was able to move posts from my now-defunct Movable Type blog to my new WordPress blog without any problem. It took a long time (and several re-runs of my old site’s export file) to import everything, but I was able to do it, and I’m not a techy. So you might give it a try: I was pleasantly surprise that I really could do it myself.
Re. running out of space with the free WordPress… As I understand it, you have unlimited space for storing posts, pages, and comments. What eats up your 50MB of free storage are things like pictures or other files. So if you post your photos to Flickr and then link to them from your WP blog, you wouldn’t (presumably) have any space/storage issues: my old blog has 1,000+ posts plus comments, and I haven’t had any storage problems since my photos are hosted off-site.
Of course, if you post lots of photos, you’ll probably need the “pro” version of Flickr…but I consider that to be $25 well-spent since Flickr makes it easier to organize & share your photos.

…Photobucket is another free photo hosting service, and has a large storage limit… I have photos there and on Flickr as well.

It’s super easy! Even I learned to do it! First you need to size them down for the web. This is mega easy in iPhoto, if you use a mac.
Export it to the desktop as a small photo. Then within Word Press just click “Upload,” and “browse” to find your picture.
